New X-rays Show Little Change, Possible Nonunion

Visited the orthopedic surgeon Thursday for 6 week check up. Thought that I had an 80% chance of being able to remove splint since anticipated need was 6-8 weeks. The x-ray report was a huge disappointment. It looked (to me to be) identical to the first x-ray posted below. The elbow is not healing. There was no evidence that new bone was developing. Four more weeks in splint for 24/7.

Osteoblast produces collagen which forms bone. Apparently there is little blasting, a result of osteoporosis.

It's time for me to take steps to promote bone growth. Research indicates vitamin therapy. My regimen: Calcium 500mg 3x; Vitamin D 400IU 3x; Magnesium 250mg 3x.

This better work! A nonunion fracture of elbow and humerus is difficult to heal. I'm "too young" to entertain idea of an elbow replacement. This leaves bone grafting as likely option. Another surgery, additional expenses, time off work, etc., etc.
